The Desert Schools Community Service Scholarship rewards students who have dedicated exceptional time and effort serving their communities and who plan to continue this dedication into the future. Desert Schools will award a limited number of scholarships valued from $2,500 to $10,000 to high school seniors and college freshmen provided that applicants meet the criteria below.
Community Service Criteria
Getting involved in your local community by volunteering your time, skills, and positive energy helps create vibrant communities. It implies a selfless act of kindness that helps those less fortunate, but can also be interpreted as being for the “Higher Good” – that is, the service provided goes beyond the selfish needs, desires or interests of the individual who performs it. However, students applying for this scholarship should understand that we are looking for community service that goes beyond simply volunteering, to those activities which are transforming communities. For details on qualified community service, download an application.
