How do I change the amount of my payroll deduction?

Can I deposit a portion of my paycheck to my family member's account?

Yes. Contact your payroll office to request Direct Deposit, and provide your family member's account information. Or, call (602) 433-7000 to establish a transfer association, and access the Transfers tab in Online Banking to set up the transfer through Add/Manage Scheduled Transfers.

Can I have a portion of my paycheck deposited directly into my money market or savings account?

Yes. Contact your payroll office to request Direct Deposit, and provide your 10-digit account number and routing number 122187238. Or, access the Transfers tab in Online Banking to set up the transfer through Add/Manage Scheduled Transfers.

If my employer mails Desert Schools my paycheck, when will it post to my account?

Such deposits post after 4 p.m. on the day of receipt. Ask your employer to verify when it mailed.

How do I know when my paycheck is in my account?

Funds are normally deposited the morning of your company's payday. The time of deposit depends on when Desert Schools receives the payroll information from your employer. You can verify a deposit via Online Banking or by calling PAL at (602) 433-2233.

My Direct Deposit should have posted today; why is it not in my account?

Contact your payroll office to verify your deposit was sent using your 10-digit account number and routing number 122187238.

Do all employers offer Direct Deposit?

Many but not all employers offer Direct Deposit; check with your payroll office.

If I enroll in Direct Deposit, when does it take effect?

Your payroll office must initiate Direct Deposit and, therefore, can provide a timeline.

What is Direct Deposit, and how can I set it up?

Direct Deposit is safe, convenient and free. Eliminate the risk of lost/stolen checks and the need to stand in line. You can also direct your funds into multiple accounts or make a Desert Schools loan payment automatically with a debit from your checking or savings account. You choose the time of the month, and we take care of the rest. Give us a call at (602) 433-7000 to get started. Check with your employer's payroll office to enroll in Direct Deposit. You will need your 10-digit Desert Schools account number and routing number 122187238.

I recently made an ATM deposit; why is it on hold?

For verification, there is an automatic two-business day hold on an ATM deposit regardless of whether it is cash, a cashier's check, a government check, etc. The first $200 is available immediately. After verification, cash and government check holds are released. The remainder becomes available on the third business day (longer holds may apply). The two-business day hold message is displayed on the ATM deposit screen and on the deposit envelope; the ATM requires you to confirm your understanding of the hold in order to proceed. The branch night depository and day drop follow branch standards for check deposit holds.

Can someone who is not on my account deposit money into my account?

Yes. Other individuals may deposit funds into your account, if they have your account number. They do not receive a receipt with any of your personal account information. If you wish to verify the deposit, you may do so via PAL or Online Banking.

What is the process to request a Verification of Deposit (VOD)?

Verification of Deposit requests can be made by fax, email or mail. Effective May 1, 2011, Desert Schools will charge $15.00 for verification of deposit processing. Payments must be received prior to or at the same time as the request.

To complete a request by mail, send the signed request and $15.00 fee (check or money order payable to Desert Schools Federal Credit Union) to:

Why was my deposit late?

If you made a deposit through the Day Drop at a branch location, the deposit may post as late as 6 p.m. If the deposit was made in a Night Drop, it will be posted by the close of business on the business day following the deposit.

I deposited cash at a Desert Schools ATM; why was I unable to access the funds later that day?

ATM deposits are subject to verification. They are reconciled on a daily basis, and members have access to the first $100. In most instances, the remainder is available at the close of business on the following day. Coin deposits are not recommended, as it may damage the ATM and delay your transaction. Refer to our Statements of Terms, Conditions and Disclosures in the footer of this page for additional details.

I deposited a check at the branch today; why aren't the funds available at the ATM?

The first $100 of all aggregate ATM deposits made in one banking day will be available immediately. The remaining funds are subject to verification. Refer to our Statements of Terms, Conditions and Disclosures in the footer of this page for details (particularly extended holds, new account holds, etc.).

I made an ATM deposit; why is my current balance different from my available balance?

When you make an ATM deposit, $100 of the funds is released right away, and the rest is on hold for two business days for verification. Longer holds may apply.

Are my deposits at Desert Schools insured?

Yes. The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) insures accounts in federal credit unions through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), a federal fund backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government. The aggregate total or your accounts at Desert Schools is insured up to $250,000 and your IRA is separately insured up to $250,000.
